How to read a Goodman furnace serial number

Goodman, Amana and Daikin ducted systems made in Houston use an all-numeric serial: the first two digits are the year and the next two the month.

  • Year + month (all-numeric)

    Example: 0107415182 (Goodman) was made in July 2001. Goodman, Amana and Daikin ducted serials start with the year and month: "01" is 2001 and "07" is July.

Not decoded yet: Daikin ductless and VRV units don't encode the date in the serial; use the MFG. DATE on the plate. Older dashed Amana serials are not decoded.

Where to find the serial number

Turn the furnace off at its switch, then remove the upper access door (the burner or blower compartment). The rating plate is on the inside wall of the cabinet or on the back of the door.

The plate lists the model number and serial number; many newer plates also print a date of manufacture.
